AeroBox
    How-to guide

Measure what the press is doing.

AeroBox makes the AeroPress press phase visible and repeatable. Place your scale and cup inside AeroBox, brew normally, then press while watching grams-out and flow rate.

    Variables to control
    Press endpoint
    Before

    Guess when to stop pressing

    After

    Stop at a target grams-out

    Press speed
    Before

    Press “gently” by feel

    After

Press within a target flow-rate band

    Key benefits

Stable AeroPress press stand that helps brewers measure and repeat the press phase.

    • Grams-out control replaces guessing when to stop.
    • Flow-rate feedback helps reduce press surges.
    • Stable platform keeps the press setup easier to control.
    • Useful for bypass recipes where pressed coffee mass changes the final cup.
    • More precise than AeroStop, but requires a scale.
    How to use it

    The main workflow, kept simple.

This is the core guide. Everything else on the page supports these five steps.

    01

    Set up the scale.

Place your scale inside AeroBox. Put your cup or server on the scale, then tare it.

    Important

The scale shows grams-out: the brewed coffee that actually ends up in the cup.

    Scale setup
    Scale in AeroBox

Place the scale inside the stand so the display stays visible while pressing.

    Cup or server tared

Tare after placing the vessel so the reading reflects grams-out only.

    Display readable

Keep the grams visible from your pressing position before you brew.

    02

    Add the AeroPress.

Place the AeroPress on top of AeroBox. Make sure the cup sits below the filter cap and the scale display stays visible.

    Watch this

You need to see the grams while pressing.

    03

    Brew normally.

Use your regular recipe. Keep dose, water, grind, and timing the same. AeroBox is only measuring the press.

    Important

Do not change the rest of the recipe just to use AeroBox.

    04

    Press with the scale.

Plunge smoothly while watching the scale. Track grams-out. If your scale shows flow rate, track that too.

    Tiny detail, big difference

Stop at your target grams-out instead of guessing by feel or waiting for the hiss.

    05

    Stop, taste, adjust.

Stop when you hit your target output. After the brew, check whether the cup landed where you wanted.

If the cup feels harsh or heavy, try stopping earlier or pressing slower next time.

If the cup needs more body, try pressing a little further.

    Quick control guide

Small measurement changes. Clearer press decisions.

Use grams-out to control where the press ends. Use flow rate to control how the press happens.

    01

    Grams-out

Use this as your press endpoint. Example: stop at 87 g out.

    02

    Flow rate

Use this to keep the press steady. Example: stay around 1–2 g/s.

    03

    Bypass

Use grams-out to keep the pressed part consistent before adding bypass water.

    Fast check

Watch grams-out if you care about where the press ends.

Watch flow rate if you care about how smoothly you press.

Stop earlier if the cup feels harsh, heavy, or over-pushed.

Press further if the cup needs more body or intensity.

Keep the same target when comparing other recipe changes.

Keep the press measurable, not guessed.
    Why use it?

    Make the press measurable.

    01

You can stop at the same grams-out instead of relying on the hiss.

    02

You can train a smoother press instead of guessing what “gentle” means.

    03

You can compare brews more clearly because the press phase is no longer hidden.

    For bypass recipes

    Keep the pressed part steady.

    Your final drink is:

    pressed coffee + bypass water

So if your pressed coffee changes, your final cup changes too. AeroBox helps you control the pressed coffee before bypass.

    What stays fixed

Use the same grams-out target before adding bypass water.

Keep the same flow-rate band if you want the press to feel the same.

Then adjust bypass separately instead of changing both variables at once.

    Want something simpler?

AeroStop gives you a physical endpoint instead of live measurement.

If you only need a repeatable stop, use AeroStop. If you want to track grams-out or flow rate, use AeroBox.

    Companion note

AeroBox is for measuring the press itself.

AeroStop is for repeatable endpoint control.

Use the one that matches the decision you need to make.
